On September 25th the Alumni and Volunteer Corporation of California Phi held its 12th Annual Nathan D Fullerton Memorial Golf Tournament at Riverside Golf Course in Fresno. Nathan was a founding member of the California Phi Chapter and passed away in 1999 after a 2 year battle with cancer. This year's tournament was a success with 56 players and more money raised than ever before. Portions of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society in Nathan's honor while additional funds will be allocated to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship Award offered to incoming freshman at the beginning of each Fall semester. On behalf of the AVC Board we would like to thank all the participants of this year's tournament as well as the sponsors, donors, parents and friends. This great event would not have happened without you. We look forward to next year being even better! Be sure to check out photos from the event.

Congratulations to the winning team for the second year in a row, made up of Colin Lewis, Dave Danell, Brandon Innocenti, and Colin Wilcox.

This year's Donkey Award for the worst team goes to Ian Wieland, Joey Biscay, Will Oliver, and Grant Bedrosian.

August & September Birthdays!!

Happy Birthday Brothers!

The annual Race Judicata supports the San Joaquin College of Law, where alumnus Ian Wieland is currently attending school.

It was sweet victory for brother Robert Gilles as he finished the race (his first ever) under his goal time! Brothers Josh Phanco, Jason Sanford and Brett von Berg also weaved their way to respectable finishing times. Looks like the third time was a charm for Mike Rizzotti as he walked away with a third place medal in his age division at the race. This was Mike's third Race Judicata and he set a new personal best record. Last but not least, brother Matt Britter proved he can out run the younger boys any day and blew them all away with his spectacular finishing time.

It is wonderful to be able to make these memories with Sig Ep brothers and makes you appreciate your place in the Cal Phi family.

Carlson Leadership Academy - Irvine, CA 2011

Rob Clegg, Zack Charles, Dante Muniz, Jeff Perlmutter, Mike Rizzotti, Chris Ramos, Chris Wyant, Travis Dillion, Eric Moreno, Anthony Mindt, Remington Alexander

At the Carlson Leadership Academy, an award-winning program, elected officers develop key life skills and share best practices to lead their chapter to excellence. The program focuses on specific goals, such as providing executive officer training, conveying the importance of recruitment, and celebrating the accomplishments of chapters, volunteers, and brothers.

2011's CLA conference was attended by nine active members and two members of the Alumni Board from Cal Phi. The conference as a whole hosted thirty-five chapters and over five hundred active and alumni brothers. This two day event allowed the attending members to compare their successes to those of other chapters and also provided them with a fresh look at new opportunities that can be implemented within Cal Phi.

Once home, the executive members took what they had learned from CLA and began outlining a plan to improve the Chapter GPA, increase recruitment, and focus on fundraising efforts.
