The California Phi Chapter

In 1991, Brian Olson, a SigEp at Cal Poly - Pomona, transferred to Fresno State and realized there wasn't a chapter on campus. The following summer, Brian and a handful of friends set out to bring the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity to Fresno. They met with the Greek Advisor on campus and worked diligently with Nationals to begin the lengthy process. In the Spring of 1993, the first goal was achieved and California Phi was recognized as an official Colony. Over the next two years, the buzz surrounding Sigma Phi Epsilon attracted 66 young men who eventually became our Founding Fathers.  The long journey culminated on May 13, 1995, when the official California Phi Charter was presented to then President John Rizzotti during a ceremony in Yosemite.

In 2003, after a decade of being on campus, California Phi secured a housing lease on Fraternity Mall. Through the efforts of Tom Weil, Cal-Phi mentor and Sac State Alumnus, the old Lamda Chi Alpha house was transformed into a home for our brothers. This facility provides many benefits to our brothers, such as: affordable housing for members, a place to hold meetings, a separate study room, and most importantly a central gathering spot to celebrate all things SigEp!
